Commander’s Diary

Start

Every battle begins with a plan. This is where mine come to explain themselves.

Commander’s Diary follows my return to computer wargaming: real battles, annotated maps and the occasional expensive lesson in overconfidence. These are short after-action stories about the decisions that mattered, including the ones that looked considerably better before anyone started shooting.

A Bridge Too Expensive — Firefight: Gates of Dunkirk

One bridge captured, three vehicles converted into landmarks, and headquarters still refuses to applaud. The first diary includes the original plan, the fighting and the bill.

Read the first Commander’s Diary. For earlier campaigns, browse the after-action report archive.
